How Tall Will You Be?
Are you curious what your final adult height will be? Your adult height is influenced by a number of factors, including genetics, sex, and overall health and nutrition. Genetics and your gender account for 70 percent of what decides how tall you can be. The other 30 percent comes from environmental factors, such as nutrition, exercise and any underlying health problems (these are things that could prevent you from reaching your full potential height).
There are a number of methods for predicting adult height. The method you are about to use was developed by Drs. Harry Khamis and Alex Roche working at Wright State University and published in 1994 in Pediatrics, the official publication of The American Academy of Pediatrics. These researchers developed a method that eliminated the need for a bone age x-ray. The "Khamis-Roche Method" is fairly accurate (within an inch and a half of actual growth) but it's only reliable if you don't have other medical problems. This method will predict height for about 95 percent of youth, but remember a few people will grow in a way that surprises any method.
This height calculator is not intended to replace your doctor's advice. Remember, the best person to answer questions about your height is your pediatrician. If after you use this calculator you're worried about the results, make an appointment to meet with your doctor.
