Q:
When I go out and cuddle with my girlfriend, I sometimes "leak" a few drops of semen. Even when I am not fully erect. I am sure it’s not an ejaculation, but it’s annoying because sometimes it leaks through my shorts and there is a spot. How am I supposed to stop it?

A:
This is not an unusual problem. Young men are always at a state of heightened arousal. A pretty young lady especially close will lead to an erection most of the time. Pre-ejaculate can be just a few drops of fluid.

Emissions may also happen rapidly. How to delay them is a popular question.

To prevent stains you may always wear an extra pair of underwear. But this is not the answer you are looking for.

Numbing cream (like Benzocaine or lidocaine) has been used for years to delay emissions. It has had some success. Another method that has been used is (if acceptable for you) masturbating before you go out on your date.

There are no medications approved specifically to delay penile emissions, BUT the SSRI’s like Prozac and Zoloft have been used. These medications, normally used for anxiety and depression, have been found to have a side effect of delaying climax. Taking an SSRI about 4 hours before a sexual encounter may be of assistance. Of course you need to discuss this with your doctor. It would be a major step for what sounds like a minor and quite normal occurrence.

You're not alone. Take a look at a few of the quetions related to this topic that other teens have asked us.
