Q:
What is the recommended allowance of vitamin C for teens?

A:
According to the recommendations from the Institute of Medicine, the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of Vitamin C for teens age 11-14 is 50 milligrams per day, and for teens age 15-18 it is 60 milligrams per day. (For adults the RDA is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men.) The RDA is the minimum requirement for good nutrition. A medium orange or a 6-ounce glass of orange juice will provide the minimum daily requirement.
