Q:
How old do you have to be to give blood?

A:
Most states require that you be 18 years old in order to donate blood (Maryland allows blood donation at age 17 years). Of course, if a person falls into the category of an emancipated minor (married, or in the armed forces) he/she may donate blood without a parent’s permission. Otherwise, while you are a minor, if you want to donate blood you will have to get your parent’s permission to do so.
