Q:
Is it safe to pierce your bellybutton yourself?

A:
I wouldn't suggest you do it yourself. Getting an infection is always a risk for do-it-yourself piercing, especially in places like the navel (bellybutton). Bacteria (germs) like warm places, like the navel area. Unless the skin is cleaned very well with an antiseptic, an infection may occur. If you want your navel pierced, please go to a licensed body piercing shop. The shops are inspected by the local health department and follow guidelines for cleanliness. They will also give you information about how to care for your navel afterward. Good luck.
