America's Sleep-Deprived Teens Nodding Off at School, Behind the Wheel
The Tired Teenager
Characteristics of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
I'm an 18-year-old 4.0 GPA student who is highly involved, and accordingly, I get about three hours of sleep each weekday night, six-seven on weekends. My short-term memory has become impaired and I lose motivation at night because all I can think about is sleep. This makes it almost impossible to get work done, and, accordingly, it cuts my actual sleep down at night, because I must compensate for lost time. I usually end up eating at 2 am to stay awake. If I slept for one whole day, would that help me regain a normal sleep cycle? School is now ending, so I should be able to sleep regularly, but every school year the same routine begins...it will be the same in college.
