Confronting Prejudice
I have a mixed racial background (half white, half Hispanic). I am often asked what race I am. Because I'm not a "straight" anything I always reply that I'm mixed. I go to a mostly white school and most of the white people don't understand what it feels like. What should I do to change their opinion?
The other day in school my class was talking about racism and a lot of the girls in my class are racist. I said that we are all equal and after class some of them beat me up and warned me not to tell anyone. A teacher asked me to tell her who beat me up. I’m afraid to say who did it. What should I do?
I am 14 and I want to tell people what a bad thing prejudice is. Any suggestions?
My grandparents live in the same city as we do and therefore frequently see us. The problem is that they are very bigoted people. Fortunately, my dad and mom are not like that but things my grandparents say are having a negative effect on me and my brother. Any suggestions?
