Sneezing, Wheezing and Sniffling: Allergies Have Many Sources
I have Severe Persistent Refractory Asthma, Cough Variant with a strong allergy component. I get so frustrated because my asthma is so frequent. I miss two to three days of school a month because of it. I am sick of being so sick. Any advice?
I am 17 years old and I have had pneumonia for a week. How long will it last? I am on cefuroxime, 50 mg of prednisone and I just finished taking the Z-pak for 5 days. I have to take pulmicort and xopenex with the breathing machine. I don’t feel I am getting better and my lower back by my lungs still hurt. I am still coughing and my peak flow is the same at 300.
I'm a 14-year-old girl. I have mild asthma and occasionally use an inhaler. Some days, I get an ache in my sinuses. Most every day, I get dizzy when I stand up from a sitting or laying position; sometimes everything goes black for a few seconds. What is this? It's really annoying, and I don't want it to interfere with sports.
I'm a 15 ½-year-old female, participating in XC rodeos basketball. I'm extremely active. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with EIA (exercise induced asthma). The last year my problems increased and I couldn't breath comfortably for 15 to 30 minutes after races. I was disoriented and severely shaky and wheezing. I was prescribed an every day inhaler for the remainder of the XC season. Now I think it’s more then EIA. I have even had an attack on the bus. I don't have a fast acting inhaler. What should I do?
What are the symptoms of asthma? Everyone tells me I have it. I haven’t gone to a doctor yet. I am not overweight, I breathe really fast and hard, and sometimes it gets hard to breathe.
Is it true that you have a higher chance of getting asthma if you have previously had a respiratory infection (such as pneumonia or bronchitis)? What kind of tests do they do to test you for asthma?
Whenever I am about to have an asthma attack my stomach starts to hurt, the top of my mouth itches, my face swells and my ears ring. Why do these things happen and is there anyway I can prevent them from happening when I have an attack?
I have two cats and they're constantly shedding. I heard if we breathe the hair and it goes in our lungs it's bad. Is this true?
I have asthma and I haven't had an asthma attack yet. What would happen when I have an asthma attack?
I have asthma. How should I explain to my friends that sometimes I can’t do the physical things that they do? Sometimes they make fun of me.
I’m a 15-year-old girl and I play volleyball. I recently learned I have asthma, and because of it I’m out of breath often after a workout or practice. Is there anything I can do to be less out of breath? I have an inhaler, but it’s inconvenient to use it during practice.
Is it possible to have a skin allergy to pollen? I have asthma (pollen triggered) and hayfever, but recently I have noticed that I get a rash and itching on my arms when I am exposed to pollen.
I'm a 15-year-old girl. I get very shaky and down in the dumps. I have asthma and take Proventil. The doctor said that my nature is to be shaky, jumping and worried. What could this be and is it harmful to my health?
A few months ago, I was having trouble breathing. I went to the doctor and he diagnosed it as a mild form of asthma. It went away in about a week. I've noticed now that it seems to come back every time I have my period. Is this more than a coincidence?
In gym after I run about a mile, I get extremely out of breath. I start gasping for air. It takes me a couple minutes before I can start to talk or walk without being too sore. Might I have asthma or do I just get extremely exhausted?
I'm 16 and 5 months ago I tore my medial meniscus in my left knee. For almost three weeks straight my leg was in convulsing spasms. It stopped for four months but just started again after I started using a different inhaler for my asthma. Could my new inhaler be causing this? The new inhaler is a steroid drug.
I own a cat and have asthma. Should I remove the cat from the house?
I cough and wheeze while playing soccer. Otherwise, I am okay. My PE teacher said I have exercise asthma. Should I stop exercising and see my doctor?
