Sports Conditioning and Its Impact on Menstruation
I’m on a year round swim team and the coach expects me to swim in every meet. Is there a way to swim with my period, even if I don’t use a tampon? Is it true that your period goes away when you’re in the water?
What are some good exercises to stay fit?
I'm a 13-year-old female and am very active in sports. I started fast-pitch softball and have been working out a lot. Now that I have been working out more, I get dizzy every time I stand up or get hot. Is the dizziness be caused by being over-worked?
When I work out in the gym, my penis often gets stiff and hard. I started puberty fairly early, around 12, and for the past half-year, I haven't grown much. Is this strange for a 16 year old?
Is creatine bad for you?
I'm 15 and I drink an extreme amount of cola each day, because I am lactose intolerant and don't like milk (but eat a ton of ice cream). I’m also a sports fanatic and am in track. My coach said I can’t drink anymore pop, but I get a headache when I try to stop. Am I addicted to it? I don't eat healthy foods, and have gained 20 lbs. in the last year. What can I do to improve my performance on the field and my health?
I'm a 14-year-old female and was on the track team in 6th grade and the beginning of 8th. I quit and I don't exactly know why. When my friends who are on the team talk about the meets, I wish I was still on the team. However, at the same time I don't like it because there's too much pressure to win. When I win a race, though, it really makes me feel good. I also like the popularity of being on the team. I can't decide whether I like track or not. I'm so confused so please give me some advice!
I would like to know the pros and cons of weight lifting. I am a 15-year-old male, 5'6", 140 lbs. and I want to start lifting.
I'm 16 and about 5'5". I haven't fully developed yet and was wondering if taking martial arts has any affects on your growth plates. Will I grow better if I didn't take it? I've been taking it for 2 years.
I play volleyball, basketball and softball. My knee hurts a lot after I get done playing any one of those sports. Sometimes my knee feels "locked-up." It sometimes feel like water on my knee, but I'm not sure. What is it? I have not had any other knee injuries.
My knee makes an odd cracking noise whenever I walk up the stairs. It doesen't hurt now, but it did for about two days. I think it is from dancing a lot. What's wrong with my knee and how can I prevent this in the future?
I want to encourage my little brother to enjoy sports. What can I do?
